The terms “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Katrien Hendrickx / In Our House.
We operate this website and online store (the “Services”) to offer a curated selection of printed books.
In Our House is powered by Shopify, which provides the e-commerce platform that enables us to sell our products to you.

By visiting or purchasing from our store, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use or access our Services.

1. ELIGIBILITY & ACCOUNT

By using our website, you confirm that you are at least the legal age of majority in your country or region, or that you have consent from a parent or guardian.
You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information when making a purchase, including your email address, billing, and shipping details.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your payment and order information.

2. PRODUCTS

We currently sell physical books only.
We make every effort to present product information accurately, but minor differences in colour or appearance may occur depending on your screen or device.
All products are offered subject to availability. We reserve the right to discontinue or modify any product at any time without notice.

Books are described as accurately as possible, but small variations in size, printing colour, or binding between copies may occur and do not constitute defects.

3. ORDERS

When you place an order, you make an offer to purchase one or more books.
Orders are accepted once payment is successfully processed and you receive an order confirmation by email.
We reserve the right to refuse or cancel any order in cases of suspected fraud, incorrect pricing, stock errors, or other reasonable grounds.
Once confirmed, orders cannot be cancelled unless required by law.

All purchases are subject to our Return & Refund Policy.
Books sold are for personal use only and may not be resold for commercial purposes without written consent.

4. PRICES, VAT AND PAYMENTS

All prices are listed in euros (€) and are final prices.

VAT is not applicable, as this business operates under the Belgian VAT exemption scheme for small enterprises (Article 56bis of the Belgian VAT Code). VAT is therefore not charged and cannot be recovered.

Shipping costs are displayed at checkout and added to your total before payment.
We accept payments through the methods offered at checkout via Shopify Payments.
You represent that you are authorized to use the chosen payment method and that payment information is accurate.
In case of pricing or typographical errors, we reserve the right to cancel or correct an order before dispatch.

5. SHIPPING & DELIVERY

We ship orders from Belgium.
Estimated delivery times are provided for convenience only and are not guaranteed.
Once an order has been handed to the carrier, the risk of loss passes to the buyer.
We are not responsible for delays caused by postal services, customs, or events outside our control.

6. RETURNS & REFUNDS

Our return process follows EU and Belgian consumer law.
You have a 14-day right of withdrawal from the day you receive your order.

7. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

All content on this website — including text, images, graphics, book descriptions, and logo designs — is the property of Katrien Hendrickx or its licensors and is protected by copyright law.
You may not copy, distribute, modify, or use any content for commercial purposes without our prior written permission.

8. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

In Our House is powered by Shopify, and certain services (such as payments or analytics) are provided by Shopify or its partners.
We are not responsible for any errors or failures caused by third-party systems.
Please review Shopify’s own terms and privacy policy when using their tools.

9. PERSONAL DATA

Your personal data is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy, and certain data may also be processed by Shopify as part of the checkout process.
By placing an order, you consent to such data being shared with Shopify and other service providers as necessary to complete your purchase.

10. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Katrien Hendrickx / In Our House shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of our website or purchase of our books.
Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory rights under Belgian or EU law.

11. GOVERNING LAW

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Belgium.
Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Antwerp, Belgium.

12. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS

We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms of Service at any time.
Updates will be posted on this page with a “Last Updated” date.
Your continued use of our website after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
